Not at all disappointed.
This is my second digital picture frame. Out of the box I found the controls to be very intuitive. (I haven't looked at the instructions yet and it is up and running right now.) I like that I was able to pretty much drag and drop pictures from my computer onto a memory card (not included but I had one) or into the frame's internal memory. My other frame did not allow you to do this so you had to set up a memory card on a computer in advance in order to get pictures into the frrame. As the pictures are scrolling I'm not at all disappointed with the resolution or the brightness. The frame is displaying the time as well and has a built in calendar function that allows you to display a calendar while the pictures scroll in the upper left corner. That is an intriguing option to me as this frame may very well end up on my desk at work. On the whole I like the frame and if you buy it I hope you are as satisfied as I am.Added 8/9/2011 I moved the picture frame to a shelf that when I am sitting down sits approximately a foot higher than the top of my head. Between the height difference and the natural leaning back of the frame I see now the loss of picture clarity that some other reviewers have mentioned. I changed my review to 3 stars because of this. I still feel it is a quality product, but it's uses are greatly limited by the loss of clarity due to angle of viewing. My intention is to put it on my desk at work and for that it would be great, but if you purchase this frame consider carefully where you intend to put it. If you don't have a relatively direct line of sight, it's not going to be a very satisfactory purchase. Thanks for taking the time to read my reviwe.

Don't buy this product
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that only SD cards formatted with the FAT file system can be used in this product. For those who are not technically inclined, this means that the card's directory can only have a maximum of 255 photos. The FAT file system was superceded by Microsoft more than 10 years ago just because of this limitation. Nowhere in the documentation is this crippling limitation mentioned. Also, the HP tech support telephone number is useless. You're asked if you want support for "Pan Digital" or "HP". No matter which one you choose, you get a recording that says Pan Digital is in bankruptcy, then the support line hangs up on you. Finally, the return window (I purchased 10/08/12 as a Christmas gift for my wife) is 30 days. So, in order to return this for only partial credit, I have to pay the shipping, too.I'm hopping mad about the whole thing.. I blame HP, but I'll never get any satisfaction from them or the Amazon, or the seller.

Dissapointed digital frame, bad resolution display
I was expecting something better than this, when it says 7" I thought that the screen was going to be like that, but the frame takes most of the space, leaving the screen size around 3.5"And the resolution is terrible, I feel like 2004 or something, don't recommend this unless you don't want to spend a little more. For the price I guess it's right what I should have expected.

Very happy
I got this for my dad for Christmas. I was very happy with it. I put pictures on a SD card for him and put it in so it was ready to go. He can customize it how he wants. It looks great, very classy. I bought another vrand last year for my husband and was very disappointed. It was only a few dollars less but is very cheep looking and made cheep too. I am thinking of getting him one of these to replace it.

Simple set up & easy to use
If you know how to read & follow instructions you'll have no problem setting this up. I liked mine so much I bought one for my Mom & Dad for Christmas, they're not real "tech-savvy" and this frame was simple enough for them to operate.

Mediocre for the Price
Here's the main points of this digital picture frame:-Comparable price to other digital frames-Holds up to 800 pics internally-Accepts 4 types of flash memory and micro USB-No computer needed-Remote control-Resolution of 480 x 234 on a 7" screenFor me, the picture quality was probably what disappointed me the most. From less than 10 feet away you can really notice the pixelation in the pictures. From over 10 feet away, it's hard to see the details at all. Now I don't know what the standard is but less than 800 x 600 is going to likely resemble an LCD from an early 90s laptop. The operating system is simplistic and has a pretty flat learning curve, but lacks any real features. You're able to run a slideshow and view the pics in sets of 8 or 12 I believe. And the pictures can be rotated. There's not much else the OS does. The frame itself is also unremarkable with standard very dark contemporary wood (plastic more likely). The multi-card reader makes it easy to take the camera or the computer out of the picture and really saves a lot of time. Its remote control does all the functions that the buttons on the frame do - forward, backward, menu, enter, zoom etc. But it cannot turn the thing on. That kind of defeats the purpose of a remote. The internal memory sounds large, but considering the quality of the pics (somewhere between 0.2-0.4 Mp) it's somewhere around 250 MB. To compare, a common digital picture is 4000 X 3000 pixels. There are other comparably priced picture frames which have many more features and better picture quality. In all, I'd avoid this unless you absolutely wanted the HP brand name.

Digital frame
I choose this rating not because the HP frame is poorly designed, constructed or looks unappealing. The one I was sent was "refurbished" and had an electrical short so it did not work properly. It was intended to be a gift for a birthday, so I did not have time to get an exchange. The vendor, however, was gracious and quick with a refund,
