Works as Advertised
Work as advertised and has been solid on my commuter bike for a couple of years now. The complaint about the "shiny" surface and stuff moving is valid, but is easy to fix either by wrapping tape or rubber. I haven't had this issue since the headlight and computer I mount have rubber inner surfaces and I make sure to tighten firmly. Also, I can see how the diameter can seem a little small, but again easily addressed with rubber/tape/old inner tubes. I say better to be too small than too big.Installation can be tricky, but not impossibly so. Seems some people had trouble so I figure I'd write up what I do:(1) Before starting, put the barrel nut, the bolt, a small screwdriver, and the correct size hex key into your pocket or within arm's reach.(2) Put the holder onto the bar using the two clamp arms and main body, with the main body ABOVE the handlebar rather than pointing out front. This way you're not working against gravity while trying to put the thing together.(3) Using one hand to hold the two clamp arms and the main body together, use the other hand to slide the barrel nut into the holder so the barrel nut hole is parallel to the ground and the two clamp arms are captured by the barrel nut. Some jiggling might be necessary to get the barrel nut through both clamp arms.(4) Using one hand to keep the barrel nut in place (thumb + index finger) and the whole assembly steady (palm + other fingers), use the other hand to slide the bolt into the bolt hole in the main body. The bolt hole is either to the front or to the rear of the bike, and parallel to the ground.(4a) If the barrel nut hole is too far out of alignment to get the bolt in, slide a small screwdriver into the bolt hole and use that to rotate the barrel nut and fix the alignment. Do so without letting go of the assembly since your hand is the only thing keeping it all together.(5) Hand tighten the bolt so the barrel nut is captured and the whole assembly will stay together, then then rotate the holder to the FRONT of the bike(6) Use a hex key to lock it in place, but take care not to over-tightenTakes me less than five minutes to move the holder if I need to, and I rarely have to do any re-takes or dig around for a dropped barrel nut.

Happy I bought this one
I was about to pull the trigger on one of the cheaper handlebar extensions, but then I found this one. Based on other reviews mentioning difficulty of installation, I was a bit hesitant. But it turned out to be very simple and easy. I mount a light and a GoPro on it, and everything is very secure and stable. And now I have plenty of room on my bars and can position the light and GoPro over my Sweetroll handlebar bag. Very happy with this purchase.

Disappointed - great holder, horribly designed mounting clamp
The design is excellent until you try mounting it. There are two curved clamping bars which you can see in the product description. These independent bars swivel around to latch over a smooth round barrel nut which slides through the center of the assembly. In order to mount it, you have to remove the barrel nut, run the clamps around your bar, slide the barrel nut through a hole in one of the bars, then through the base, and then through the other bar. Once you slide it through you have to use your X-Ray vision and your third hand to hold everything in place while you hunt and peck with the bolt to try and find the threads in the barrel nut. As if that’s not bad enough, the barrel nut has tapered ends, so once you start to tighten it down the clamping bars will want to pop off. Eventually, if you’re lucky and extremely patient, you might find a balance where it’s tight enough to stay put but loose enough that the bars don’t pop off the tapered barrel.Unfortunately, once you travel a mile or two one or both of the bars will pop loose again anyway. This seems to be a feature designed to insure that you get extra exercise getting off your bike every ten minutes to walk back thirty feet and recover your GPS and mirror with the assembly that just fell to the ground.I’m generally a big fan of Minoura. I have at least a dozen Minoura products that are durable, efficient and well made. I’ve had an early Minoura plastic accessory holder for about 15 years that just broke so I was thrilled to find this updated unit, especially when there seemed to be a good number of positive reviews. The only thing I can think of is that possibly I received a unit with a defective barrel nut and perhaps everyone else has one that isn’t tapered on both ends, but that seems unlikely and even so it’s a headache to get it installed. This product would have been great if they had kept the clamp simple, but the barrel nut makes the whole contraption worthless. I hate giving a product that seems this refined and finished one star, but with the poorly designed clamp I would turn this down if someone gave it to me as a gift. Unless you own a welder, don’t buy it.

Works for me
Solved the problem on where to put my older bike computer. (The cord wasn't long enough for my new bike.) Also, added my red camera mount for my Olympus Tracker video camera. The Minoura mount was pain in the butt to install, but I got it set up as I wanted it. Good product (so far.)

Difficult to assemble/mount
There are lots of handlebar extensions accessories out there. I chose this one because of their claim that the bar can be rotated (horizontal/vertical). That claim is true, but to do that, you need to loosen a hex screw and then tighten it again once rotated. And I don't mean simply losen, you need to rotate the screw 6 or 8 full rotations. Unfortunately, the design is such that an allen key can only turn that bolt 1/4 turn at a time. That is insane. The hex screw should be replaced with a thumb screw! The other nag is mounting it to your bike. I actually wanted to mount it somewhere on the stem or headset, under the handlebar, but this holder is too short for that. If I did that, it would sit behind the brake cables, leaving no room to mount my light. Another 2 inches of extension would have solved that problem. The third nag is that the actual bar is too short. Another inch or so longer would have been ideal. And both end caps on the bar should be a bit bigger to serve as a stop so mounted accessories don't slide out.On the pro side, it's pretty sturdy, yet light weight (in the good sense).

Not disappointed, would buy again.
I found it a tad fiddly to fit, but now that it's on it is very good, inspires confidence and is capable of being adapted to numerous tasks. I needed it as a light holder but it would be great for GPS, computers, phones etc

Heavy duty quality clamp and bar.
These are a quality durable item. Would have been nice to get a small allen key to go with it for this price but its still worth the money I feel. The bar can be turned and fitted horizontal or vertical as required.

awsome
It is extremly well made, it's only a shame that it did not come with a 3mm ball ended hexagonal key or a 4mm hexagonal key, or any instructions. It has rubber shims to adjust for different stems. You'll need a 3mm ball end hex key for the slide and a 4mm hex key for the stem adustment

Great Item
Found the minoura space bar excellent easier then the old bar to attach and is just as strong and no movement can still be rotated to suit different bar positions.
