Very well built gable vent. Comes with regular screening (like a screen door). I replaced the screen with a larger mesh hardware cloth to allow more airflow.

I needed to replace my attic vent window and I'm lucky that I found this. Otherwise the contractor was going to manually build it, which would be noticeably more expensive

Replaced attic windows. They look great! Painted them before going up and touch up later.

Bought two. Both had defects on the frame. If this were visible to passersby I might have considered returning. Rough sawn areas needed sanding before applying primer. While the metal screen is better than non-metal it is very fragile. If you are in an area where there are critters like squirrels and chipmunks I highly recommend adding a layer of strong wire mesh. Critters will chew right through the provided screen. Ideally this should be made with the wire mesh on the outside layer but I did not want to chance attempting to remove the staples and trim holding down the screen and breaking the trim. The attached images are not stock but show my additional trim and wire mesh that should come standard. Be sure to pre-drill if you add screws as cedar will crack easily. I do not think that I would attempt stapling the mesh down as the thin cedar trim will crack easily if you attempt it.

I was amazed at the quality of this! And it is made of cedar to boot!! Sad I had to paint it. Great buy!!

We searched our local builders, Lowe's and Home Depot to find gable roof vents and could not find what we wanted for our remodel job on our house. On a whim, I searched Amazon never thinking we would find exactly what we wanted and available on Prime for two day delivery. Was I ever wrong! These Ekena Millwork Gable Vents are super! They are exactly as described and come complete with screen attached. They are beautiful, functional and when they are stained to match the house, they will be perfect! The price is very competitive with the fiberglass and plastic alternatives we found at the big box home improvement stores. And they all would have been special order and taken a week to come in. I will post a photo when the job is finished but I look forward to seeing what else Ekena Millwork has to offer.

I am very pleased with this gable vent compared to other similar products out there. This is extremely well made with full ventilation behind the slats, not the tiny holes like in the plastic and urethane vents. The insect screen is made of heavy duty metal with small holes to keep small bugs like ants and bees out. It is secured by a full wooden frame around the entire perimeter and not just a few, cheap staples like other vents. The wide flange allows for variation in the rough opening if you happen to cut the hole a little too big. It took two coats of paint and looks great as you can see in the picture. Being made of cedar, it even smells nice ! Amazon definitely hit a home run with this one 😄👍🏼
