We buy batteries in the bulk pack. Sometimes batteries get put back in the battery drawer if they are used for a short time. Before buying this tester, it was aggravating to put a battery in a device, only to discover that it may have been used and now dead. This battery tester is quick and accurate, and allows us to check for dead batteries easily.

I can't speak for others, but I have a 'battery drawer' at home that was filled to the top with a rat-pile of mystery batteries that had accumulated over time. For a few dollars, I got through the drawer and reorganized it to include only 'good as new' batteries that included AA, AAA, 9V, C, and D cells. I think it can test even more types, as well. My final thought: This fixed my problem for a very small investment. Happy!

I read about a million reviews before just buying one of these, many of which aren’t great. However, I have no complaints. It does what it’s supposed to do quickly and relatively easily (it can be a little tricky positioning the battery just right so the little nub on top makes contact, but this hasn’t been a problem for us). It’s a very handy device to own! I no longer have random batteries stuck random places around my house, to eventually get motivated to figure out if they are good or dead. I’d call that a win.Yes, the plastic is cheap and it doesn’t feel built to last, but I’m fine with that if it continues working awhile and safely lives in my junk drawer for now.

Works great and very easy to use

Works well with no added power source. Smart way to check batteries. No guessing on which battery is dead. Light weight, small design, fast result, very accurate. I dropped it by accident from a 3 feet drop on to the kitchen floor. I was surprised it didn't shatter. Surprisingly Sturdy. A must buy.

Battery testing is a simple process and this one works. However, there is no spring to hold the bottom part against the battery to maintain the connection. It's awkward to hold the battery exactly right to maintain the connection while reading the meter. But it does work. I had a much sturdier one years ago and this one is very different.

I love that you get a discount if you order 2 testers at one time. Several years ago we started using a tester (just like this one - it came with our battery case), and we've gotten a few extra months of use out of our batteries, rather than immediately changing them out as they begin to lose juice. I like the color-scale on this tester so that you can immediately see if your battery is Green (good), Yellow (beginning to lose some power), or Red (change). The only thing negative I can say about the gauge is that there are thin wires inside that are easily crushed if something heavy (like D batteries) set on top, so we wrap our Gauges in bubble wrap and keep them separate from the batteries. Also, avoid raising the slider too fast or forcibly (again to protect those tiny wires). Considering the budget price, though, I have to give these 5 Stars.
