I have a car that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I have an Android phone so Apple CarPlay was never used.I often have to wait for young passengers to complete activities. I wanted to be able to watch YouTube, movies, etc... Android Auto does not support this feature for me in a streaming way.This player does have portable storage options but that requires thinking about this in advance instead of just realizing I was "stuck" and wanted to watch something on the dashboard screen in my car. A Hyundai.This device has solved this problem. It has the ability to connect over wifi. So I hotspot through my phone or the car itself. It connects to my cars dashboard screen over Apple CarPlay. I can use the touch screen capabilities to control YouTube etc... So much nicer to sit and watch it on the larger screen while I am waiting.So all of that is great. Why not 5 stars? Well....After about 25 days of use suddenly it would not connect over WIFI. I got a very vague, very basic "can't connect" when trying to connect WIFI to get streaming working. I tried all of the normal troubleshooting steps. I reset the password. No joy. I removed the WIFI connection completely and re-added it. No joy. I repeated these steps trying to connect to my home WIFI when I got close enough thinking it could be my hotspot or trouble with my car. Again no joy.I was going to package it up and return the device as defective. Then I had one more thought. I did a full reset that wipes everything. This is just an Android device so it is the normal OS process. It lost all history, all setup, all App updates, everything. I didn't like the thought but hey I was going to return it so it felt wise anyway...Post the wipe I decided to try and again. And lo and behold the device WIFI was working again. So I re-updated the apps. Reconnected everything. And so far it has gone more than 60 days on round #2.I would love to give this thing 5 stars because when it works it really works well. I just always feel like I am living on borrowed time and waiting for whatever corrupted the WIFI processing to fail again.I kept the device and I do use it when it needed. It isn't that terrible to have to reset and start over when this occurs. So I gave it 4 stars.Would I recommend it? I am torn. If your luck is better and it stays connected without issue? Then yes. I would whole heartedly recommend it. If you have to reset like I did and worse more often, then no I would suggest an alternative that doesn't have the problem.One more thing that is so often the case these days. I could find no trace of the brand / company online. I was looking for advanced troubleshooting guides. I could find nothing more than the little paper 3 page folded sheet that came with it. I am just glad I lucked into the solution.
