For some reason, after properly driving the gear forward and engaging the ring gear, the next 50 times I clicked the key it spun and didn't drive it forward and didn't engage the flywheel ring gear. I'll keep using it, hoping it improves with use. If not, I'll lower the rating and return it in a week or so.

I think my 3000 gas had its original starter still. I had it rebuild for $80 a few years ago. The bendix failed a few weeks ago. I liked the thought of keeping things original. How wrong I was. The old starter always sounded like an old tractor starting, loud, noisy, cranky. The new starter makes the old engine come to live almost instantly and quietly like my car!I guess 50 years of engineering development does make a difference...The starter came with a test report. Wow.One note; the terminal is located towards the end of the housing, you will need a longer cable. The picture shows a standard $7, 12" long, 4awg cable.

direct fit replacement on my ford 340. came fast fit right and worked. it's quite a bit lighter than the old one but that one was probably out of the 80's. this one cranks hard so hopefully it will last.

Much faster starts than old OEM starter. Always had good luck with this company's products. Great price too.
