Do not buy unless you are ok with mandatory browser behavior monitoring!
So I just got an orico metacube mini because I want to setup a home cloud solution for my pictures. I want to offload all my pictures into it so that I can clear my phone and access them through the NAS cloud. After my setup I went through the privacy policy on my iphone. I read that they will monitor your web browsing activity through a vpn certificate you have to install on your device or else you cannot use the app or the NAS. There is no way to opt out of this. The privacy policy also states that all data is kept in servers in China. From the privacy policy:“In order to improve our Services and provide you with services that can better satisfy your personalized needs, we will extract your preferences, behavioral habits and other characteristics based on your browsing history, device information, location information, etc., to make portrait of the crowds based on feature tags so as to provide more accurate and personalized services and contents, as well as display and push information and possible commercial advertisements.1. Storage locationIn accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations, we will only store the personal information collected about you in the territory of the People's Republic of China. At present, we do not currently have the scenario of storing your personal information cross-border or providing personal information overseas. If it is really necessary to conduct cross-border data transmission, we will separately and clearly inform you (including the purpose, the recipient, the method and scope of use, the content of use, security measures, security risks, etc.) and ask for your authorization and agreement, we will ensure that the data recipient has sufficient data protection capabilities to protect your personal information”

Will NOT work with PC or Mac, ONLY mobile
I bought this for Network Attached Storage, so I would not need to plug in a backup drive every week. It claims it will work in that fashion. It will NOT. It can only be accessed through the Meline app, which is ONLY available for mobile devices. Even when I downloaded, installed and signed into the app on my iPhone, it would let me see the drive and view all its parameters and settings, but STILL would not let me download anything to it. The quality of the device seems good, but it has little value if it will NOT do what I need it for. It is going back tomorrow.

MISLEADING at best!!! Only gave it 5 stars because they buried my review. Its 2 stars at best.
Its not NAS by definition. You can share files with other owners of this same device. ie. everyone on your network must have one of these devices (with a drive (Sold separately)) to share files. If you want to use this for cloud storage to access remotely you have to buy credits. There is no Linux client even though it says its compatible with Linux. To use this with linux you have to access it with SAMBA which doesn't give you all of the features included with the client app that is only available for Windows, IOS, or Android. They basically want you to buy as many of these devices to share with other owners. Don't expect to be able to share files with other users on your network unless every user has one of these devices. If you're looking to have centralized private storage or share files between users on your network this is not for you. Support for this device is non existent. I will not buy another one of these...

Suspicious app
Description does NOT state that an app is REQUIRED for setup and REQUIRED for phone-to-NAS connectivity. NAS devices do NOT require this as they have built-in web-servers for setup,,, but this one does... The app itself is suspicious in that it requires a VPN connection to your phone and needs read access to everything. I assume they are using this VPN to act as a private tunnel between your phone and to the NAS. This way they can avoid the customer having to punch holes in their home router/firewall and setting up a DNS host like DynDNS to get things working. The VPN is also a bit suspicious in that you never know how/where your local phone internet traffic is being routed. Is it also being routed through their VPN? Who knows, it doesn't say...Additionally, mapping a basic Samba/CIFS/SMB share to your PC or Mac leaves you with a username (which is your phone number). So in Windows/Mac it shows up as "(555)555-5555's Share" - no one wants to see that!!! In addition to the basic SMB mapping, all permissions to the SMB share are done through the app. But since it's phone number based it end up looking like gibberish. And if you are hoping for granular permissions/ACLs then I have news for you, THAT'S NOT A THING!!!I DON'T blame Orico for this - well kinda... I DO blame whoever AT Orico thought it was a good idea to use a blockchain-based, slow network, garbage app to setup and manage a NAS!!!Stay away!!!

Great for basic cloud users, disappointment for advanced NAS users.
Pros:Transfer speed is descent, can stream DLNA as well, share multiple user without much of bottlenecks.Weline App, cloud management client, learning curve requiredCloud sharing if you are into those things.Cons:Cloud based management of multiple devices, no web interface to access admin/setups? (very disappointed)some sort of VPN is enabled at all times to run this cloud app, seems no way around it.SAMBA - IP Address only, Hostname is not accessible from Android what's the reason?SAMBA - Windows OS I can barely make it work with Hostname access with credentials manager setupSummary:*I am just not a fan of "Cloud enabled services", my problem is from corporate level of IT/security, now a days enterprise companies will BLACK LIST foreign sites, including cloud services.* I installed Leven 4TB SSD* I have this connected into my home/office with AX3000 WiFi access point, transfer speed from my android tablet i'm getting about 10MBytes / sec average, and higher transfer rates if on a LAN connection from a windows laptop.
