Reskinned Baofeng
I didn’t realize this is essentially a reskinned Baofeng. It is preprogrammed with GMRS channels which is helpful and the Bluetooth functionality, while an improvement over the Baofeng UV-5R requires the use of really buggy software on your phone. I found chirp over USB to be easier but finicky. Knowing what I know now I’d probably have skipped this radio but it’ll be a decent extra GMRS — definitely not my primary.

Easy to use
I bought this gmrs radio primarily for its bluetooth programming ability. There's no need to keep a programming cable, computer, or bluetooth adaptor which needs to be charged. Just the phone and the radio. Radio can be reprogrammed and updated on the go through odmaster app.The screen is easy to read.Antenna was just okay with acceptable swr, upgraded to better though.Power output is just shy of 5w.Radio has a solid hefty feel when compared to other cheap radios such as uv5r.It is thicker and bulkier than uv5r of course. Not too crazy about the flap-latch. External latch makes me think of what might happen if it breaks.Biggest con to this radio is the availability of batteries imo. There are no backup batteries that I can find. And no car charger. Here is where the uv5r type radios rise to the top.

Good Radio
It's a good radio but you cannot program that for firefighters or marine frequency.

Sturdy radio
Solid build. Feels very sturdy. The buttons and volume knob seem like they will last a long time. The function of this device is so similar to a Baofeng that the voice for the button presses must be the same. Also, I wish more “companies” putting out these cheap radios would migrate to USB charging. The large docks are cumbersome.

Nice Import Radio
I have the H8. It's a nice radio. One of the cheaper ones with an LCD screen. This version is strictly GMRS, which I wanted. I wanted the bigger screen too. It's easy to program with and without the Bluetooth app.it can only be charged in the cradle. no usb charging at all..that really sucks...it seems you can't use the frequency mode to TX. It appears that it's only for scanning and finding frequencies. Once you do, you need to save it as a channel, then you can TX on it. So it has a few weird quirks. I think it will be fine for my purpose. I've been though 5 different radios and this one seems to be worth the money. I won't get rid of my UV-5R's either.. The older ones are way worth the $20.good luck... I'd recommend this radio, but I don't think I would buy a second one...
