This book is simple to understand. We like the tips about setting up the drums and how to understand how to "read" the drum beats that are in it. The beats are simple enough to understand but fun for my kids to learn to play. This is a really good book and we have used it a lot to learn to play!

Our son is 9 and has an electronic drum set and he's played a bit, but hes a beginner. We got this book and it's great. We figured out how to "read" the beats, the book explains it in pretty good detail, and then he was off and running. There's a lot of drum beats in here but they're all manageable by a beginner. The book also explains some other worthwhile stuff for drummers and kids starting out like how to properly play the bass drum, the steps to learning each beat and it explains each drum beat. Great drum book for the new drummer!

Surprised that it didnt provide much guidance on the basics, it offered limited tuition about holding the sticks, etc and how to read the music. I would have liked a little more time spent on these.For some reason the music notes have googley eyes which is odd. And there are differing numbering of notes within a measure yet it is meant to be 4/4 time. Or nothing to denote 4/3 time. And the gaps between notes varies.

New and child drummers will find this book easy to read and follow.Recommend.
