Great breadth on the topic
This book is really about the breadth on the topic of bathroom remodels. It does a great job on that, you just won't really find it going into the actual details on many of the items. This book is great to get started to understand what you like and what you want to do and then to learn about the things you will need to understand to carry out the actual project.

Great illustrated instructions for bathroom DIY jobs
From bathroom layout, to design and feature considerations, to step-by-step instructions with illustrations, this BLACK+DECKER book is a great DIY bathroom guide. Whether you want to upgrade hardware or accessibility options, or if you want to rip the bathroom apart down to bare studs, this book gives advice and materials needed for the project. This guide is divided logically into sections on design elements (an overview of projects you may have), getting started (determining plans, creating plans, demolishing, etc) before it shifts into project areas such as showers and bathtubs, sinks and vanities, toilets, lighting and ventilation, wall and floor projects, bathroom accessories, and then a few end notes such as conversation tables and a resource list.Overall this is a good place to start if you want to DIY. It assumes a pretty good level of knowledge of how to use tools (there is a tool and materials list for each project but doesn’t suggest certain brands or even suggested models of tools). Although there are pictures for each major step of the project and lots of helpful hints, I’d suggest this book as a beginning point and then I’ll watch YouTube videos for even more tips and more in-depth instructions.Overall, this is a great resource whether you are planning on tackling a small or large bathroom project.

Will save me hundreds or even thousands in remodeling bathroom
This book is very informative with step by step instructions in detail. It includes various designs, styles and then steps to get the job done. I’m amazed with many options listed that I never got a chance to think about or see them before. It’s a wonderful resource for a handy man. With the knowledge in this book, I can either remodel bathroom by myself or manage a contractor to do the job properly. All the colored pictures in the book are very helpful for choosing a good and possible design and style. It’s a huge time saver for me to check around warehouses without a clue. This book will ultimately help me design, choose the right style and make final decision before heading to warehouse or calling a contractor. Very nice!

As long as you understand the limitations of this book, you'll find it useful
This 256 page book appears to have everything you might want to know about how things can be upgraded or installed anew in modern bathrooms. There have to be well over a thousand photos. Most of the people shown are White males doing the work, which is my only general quibble about the images.I can't review the entire text thoughtfully without weeks of study, so I'll scrutinize the one upgrade I have planned -- replacing a vent fan. Turns out there aren't helpful hints in here for those replacing a fan aside from recommendations about the fan ratings. Instead, the instructions are for taking a ceiling light and replacing it with a lighted ceiling exhaust fan that's vented outside. Let's see what might trip a DIYer up:* There's a full checklist of tools and materials you'll want to do this home improvement, down to things like pencils and eye protection. That's good!* When it talks in the preview about doing a new install of a roof-mounted vent, it says, "Carefully install flashing around the outside vent cover to prevent roof leaks." You know how to do that, right? That's what other books and the internet are for because this isn't a book on roofing.* When removing the existing ceiling light, "Test the wire connections with a current tester to make sure they're not live..." Do you know how to do that?* The pictures/instructions show how to vent the exhaust to an outside wall that's clad in wood siding. If you have brick or something else, you'd better look up those instructions elsewhere. Putting a 4" diameter hole in your external wall is something you'd want to get right the first time!* In the final image, when the new fan/lamp combo has been installed, it says to patch and paint everywhere you've removed drywall. You know how to do that as well, right?OK, maybe I chose a bad example to look at. How about toilets? How can one adjust a toilet that keeps running on and off? No luck. This is a book about bathroom remodeling, not repairs. Let me repeat that: This is not a repair book. It never claimed to be!As long as you understand the limitations of this Black + Decker book, you'll find it useful. I really wish it had included perhaps web links to other potential solutions for issues you might come up against, like the ones I mentioned above. It's frustrations like that that can make a homeowner throw up their hands in frustrated defeat, which would be unfortunate.

More for remodeling than fixing
Lots of pictures and some good tips for remodeling. Not good if you want to know how to FIX anything like a toilet or shower valve. It really just goes over how to install or remove things. Doesn't go into much detail for some things like shower valve installation. Some wording is a bit odd or confusing like in the third picture I posted with the toilet flange.
