I bought these for my 2 german sherpherds, 1 regular hair and 1 long hair. Sets up within 2 minutes. One of the 2 german shepherds got shocked pretty hard on Setting 3 and after that 1 shock hasn't ever gone passed the line where it happened again. The second dog with the long hair took a lot more time, as she didn't seem as bothered by the shock and was a little stubborn. I had to go to Setting 5 with her and trim the hair on her neck to make a good contact. Now when she hears the beep she knows to stop and turn around. Overall, these have been lifesavers for me as I live next to a highway and was having trouble keeping the dogs in the driveway. I live on 5 acres so fence wasn't a viable option. The distance the dogs can roam is plenty big enough for them so they can still go around the back or the side of the house without issue. If you live in a barndominium like I do, be cautious putting it too close to the metal walls as it does cause issues with reception.

we have 2 stubborn dogs and live in a very rural area... they are use to training collars, but would often roam out into the farmland outside of our property. IT only took a few days for them to get adjusted to the collars and stay in the boundary. Thankfully my wife can work in the shop all day and not worry about these guys going into the fields or street!The collar and charger could be slightly better, but they both work well. battery has never lasted less than a week before charging.Follow the directions and you will most likely be very happy.FYI one of our dogs is a blue heeler with very coarse hair, and even with the long probes, it MAY not work...

I received the Play & Safe Compact Unit a couple of weeks ago for my one year old Boxer female. She is a wanderer and so I needed a system to keep her contained in our yard. We live in a rural area, large property. This system has worked! I set the boundary at 70 feet so she has plenty of room to run and play. I set the static shock on level 2 and it only took one time for her to respect the tone and shock so her training was incredibly short. She has not left the boundary area and immediately returns to her safe area when she hears the warning beep. The only thing I discovered, which was my fault for not reading the information completely when I ordered, is that the battery on the collar that comes with this unit is not replaceable. So if the collar stops working I will need to order another collar. I also have a three year old male German Shepherd.. He is normally good about staying home, but he occasionally travels up the gravel road and since we also live close to a main heavily traveled road I decided to purchase another collar for him. As I was researching the collar I called customer service. That is when I found out that the collar I have does not have replacement batteries. The rep told me that any of the Pet Safe wireless systems collars will work with my system so I ordered a collar that uses the RFA 67 D replacement batteries and I ordered extra batteries for this new collar. I will eventually need to order this same collar for my Boxer when the collar stops working, no idea how long it will last. They say several months but I will find out. The larger Pet Safe Play and safe unit costs more than the unit I purchased and comes with the replacement battery collar and this is the extra collar I ordered, based on the fact that the rep at customer service said that any of the collars are interchangeable between systems. So far I have no complaints about this system and I am very satisfied with it, it keeps my dog home and safe. It is so easy to set up. I have it sitting on the counter in the kitchen, plugged it in, charged the collar and that was it. So far so good, works great. I couldn't give a rating on the battery yet so left it unrated for now. I wanted to write this review as a heads up for anyone looking for a good containment system and so they would be aware of the collar battery issue. Overall I would recommend this system.

I was frustrated with cheaper versions of the electric fences & tried this one. After realtively easy set up and 1 or 2 days of quick training - this product worked well. Soon after installation - our dogs began to understand that the random joggers/cars/bikers - might not be nefarious & they must only be barked at from a very safe distance. After a week or so, they often got bored with barking. Now as cars pass..they just look up as if to say "what's the point?" This product reduced the headaches in my life by at least 20%.

I adopted an older dog with a tendency to wander. After him getting out of the yard a few times I started looking into other options.This thing popped up and I gotta say it is awesome. Didn't have to set up wires, dig lines or anything. Plug it in charge the collar and go. You set your radius, and once your dog gets to the edge of it it sets a tone and after the intensity increases if your dog deosnt back off they get shocked. However there is no vibration so if your dog is deaf or hard of hearing that may end up being an issue. But they do supply you with a bunch of flags to put around the perimeter so your dog can see thier physical boundary.My biggest problem I have with this unit is the battery life of the collar, which is about 4 hours new. On the plus side however my dog has now learned the boundaries of his yard and I almost never use the collar now.Mostly now I use it when we go to a friend's house or somewhere new. It takes about 5 minutes to set it up with my new perimeters and Bubba gets to have fun and I get to relax a bit knowing he will stay in the area.

I bought this wireless fence because I have a hound who will chase just about anything. I live near a very busy street and near a highway and I wanted to ensure that my dog is safe within my property. I tried all the settings up to 3 but that didn’t seem to stop her from running out of bounds, so I cranked it to 4. Afterthe first few beeps and quick static shock, she now knows her boundaries. All I have to do now is put the collar on and she won’t pass the boundaries even if I walk to the end of driveway. She will sit and wait for my return.So far I’m loving it!

Although we were told after receiving our unit broken, Amazon stated they were not able to help.The company of this product was unbelievable with their customer service! They were very understanding, pleasurable and fast!Being our second unit we are very happy with the unit and the “direct” customer service would make me invest in another unit if ever needed.Highly recommend

This is my second unit. My first one quit working after a few years. Unfortunately, this replacement unit only lasted about four months and then quit working. Good news, I called the company and explained what was happening and they sent me out a new unit right away. Cannot say enough good about the Pet Safe Company. So I say yes, go ahead and purchase this product. They work great and the company stands behind their product. Very happy.

We live on one of the gulf islands in British Columbia. Our property is mostly in Douglas firs but have a large open area around our house. When we started to breed small terriers we recognized that we would have to fence some of the area. We learned of the invisible fence which originally required burial of a cable in the lawn. Our dogs were provided with collars that would give the dog a small harmless 'buzz' . Within a few years the buried cable was replaced with a radio transmitter that would provide a gentle signal to the dog. The transmitter can be adjusted for range and intensity of the 'reminder' so that small dogs like ours would receive a more gentle reminder than a larger dog. We have used the collar with great success since. We highly recommend them.

It's a really important safety device for safety for our dog here in the sector. Our dog had the habit to run in order to cross the road in front of our house. This was unsafe and extremely dangerous. Since we install the wireless electronic fence, our dog stay safe on our property and the playground is large enough.The first unit that we bought failed. We decided to install it under the Bar-be-Cue in the close space. The rebound of the wireless due to a metal close space caused the failure (clearly written in the instruction manual not to position close to metal). I rush order an other transmitter to keep my dog safe. After receiving the new unit, I open the unit and found that the problem was a blown fuse. The fuse was solder to the electronic board. I remove the fuse with my iron and order an other one on the internet. Now it work again and I have a spare transmitter. I strongly recommend this product
