Really not bad for computer speakers
Really not bad for computer speakers. Don't expect them to sound like being at a club. The set is analog only, no USB audio and no tone adjustment. The USB cord is just for power. The sound quality is equal to that of a portable cd/radio/cassette boom box that were more common around the early 2000's, which is great for just using as computer speakers. The bass is modest and present, the middle is super clear and accented, the highs sound like a gentle ping, not like a nasty SHKASSSSHHHHSSSSSHHH. It's hard to tell if the material is really wood or not. Only goofy thing about them is that the tweeters are fake. They are just plastic pieces made to look like tweeter speakers. I don't know why some manufacturers decorate speakers with fake tweeters... JUST DON'T! It makes people feel stupid for buying speak with fake tweeters.

The high pitched whining sound drove me crazy.
Just returned these. These are definitely not $50 speakers. Maybe $20 speakers. When the speakers are turned on, there is this high pitched whining noise that comes from them. I adjusted the input to the speaker, and the volume on the speakers, and it was still there. I was hoping to have these on all of the time, because they would be the output from my Amazon Echo, but the whining sound will drive you crazy when music isn't playing though them. You have to turn them off. The output sound is not great either. I've had much cheaper computer speakers that sound way better. The only upside is the wood paneling makes them look kind of neat. I guess that's why they think they can sell them for $50.

an inconvenience that I would rather not deal with if something like this would bother you
The sound quality is what you would expect for the price and though these speakers are bulky they are also surprisingly light. It makes me wonder if the bulk is worth the extra use of space.Either way, the speakers are satisfactory and it comes with durable braided cords. The manual does warn of electrical interference in the form of buzzing noise during prolonged use and recommends that you unplug it every now and then, an inconvenience that I would rather not deal with if something like this would bother you.

Decent-souding and attractive-looking speakers at a very good value.
The media could not be loaded. I was looking for something wood-grained and inexpensive, yet amplified; so that I could stream music during the workday in my home office. I placed two product options in my wish list: this very product for ~$20, and another wooden pair for ~$80. I figured I'd start with these, since they were priced so well. The net result: I'll be keeping these and they meet my expectations perfectly. They serve the very purpose I had planned for them, and they perform and look quite well, at an excellent price point. Some buyers are reporting "hissing" sounds from theirs when no music is playing on them; however my speakers don't seems to exhibit that behavior; even when cranking the volume to it's max and stopping the input. Mine work flawlessly. Some niceties:* Front-accessible volume control; handy for quick, "analog-style" adjustments (it's incredible the amount of amplified speakers that place the onus in the input source for this exclusively).* All cables are jacketed in a robust, cloth-like mesh, and they seem quite durable.* Dynamic response and frequency range is better than I had expected.* The wooden enclosures are attractive and quite robust. My (personal) gripes:* I do wish the speakers had removable cloth-like speaker covers/grilles, reminiscent from the nice speakers of yore.* The volume knob has a printed "-/+" markers beside it, on the nice woodgrain. Unnecessary and clutters up/devalues the nice wood enclosure.* YAEDWABBLED ("Yet Another Electronic Device With A Bright Blue LED"). I cannot even fathom why this ~25-year-old practice/fad is still a "thing." It's superfluous, redundant, tacky and severely overused. Again, it devalues the look of the nice woodgrain cabinets. For $20 and the decent looks and good sound yielded, these speakers are a no-brainer if the retrol-like style tickles your fancy. In the meantime I'll be carefully erasing the silk-screened volume indicators on the nice wood, as well as internally disabling that blasted bright-blue LED.

They emit an annoying whine, not a good choice for your desk.
Bought these to go on my desk at work, where I'd be playing them at low volume. They emit an audible high-pitched white-noisy sort of whine the entire time they're on, which overwhelms the sound at low volume and makes them unusable for close-quarters listening. Might be fine if they were up on a shelf on the other side of the room, but in that case you'd have something you plugged into the wall not directly into USB. Definitely not a good choice for a desk speaker. They're also a bit cheap looking. There's only one speaker per box, i.e. the top circle is meant to look like a tweeter but is just a piece of plastic, not a real speaker. Can definitely do better at this price point.

Very nice....
Bought these for a 21 inch flat screen tv which sounds very bad and tinny. These speakers help quite a bit. Seems well made with rubber feet cushions, on off switch, volume control, pilot light, and real wood speaker box.. Nice and small but sound good. The usb fitting on the cable wouldn't fit in the TV's HDMI socket so I plugged it in the service port and it works fine. Received these yesterday and today the price went up $10.

and the sound quality from the working speaker was poor. Another complaint I have is the short length ...
After hooking up the speakers I found that the speaker without the controls on it didn't work, and the sound quality from the working speaker was poor. Another complaint I have is the short length of the cables from the control speaker to the pc and second speaker. Too bad because the speakers were very nice looking. I will say that the vendor accepted my return without question.

Decent speakers
These speakers work great if you want some cheap, decent sounding speakers. They do create a little bit of distorted noise when you turn them up, but that's typical. I use them to listen to recorded songs on my MacBook and they aren't the best but they work for the price!
