13 yrs teaching and how have I not heard of this until now????
This book is a game changer!! I started reading this book last year and have been slowly revamping my small group instruction. Two year later and I gave the book back that I was borrowing so I could finally buy my own. I have carried this book around with me so I can easily access the word lists and prompts. I’ve scoured the chapters about effective instructional practices in the different leveled groups. I’ve used the comprehension cards in small group and while group. This book is a gold mine of information from cover to cover. Thank you Jan Richardson for sharing your knowledge (and thanks to my admin for lending me the book!!!!). I will recommend this book to my peers over and over again!

If you ever felt unsure about teaching children to read, get this book...
I am honestly upset with my college not having this on a mandatory reading list. This book is invaluable in terms of how to plan guided reading groups and assess readers at each step of their development. It also lays out a very quick and easy map of how to roll out centers/independent work for very young children. In her book it actually encourages you to KEEP IT SIMPLE. I love it. The website connected to the book is rife with invaluable materials from charts to videos.

... use her books and this book by far the best I’ve read
I’ve been to guided reading trainings that use her books and this book by far the best I’ve read. I know all her other books say a practical guide to guided reading and you can start guided reading right away but dispite reading it I never did walk away feeling like I could do that. With this book I feel like I can start the next day with a bit of planning and preparation.

Excellent resource for Educators working with differentiated small groups
Excellent resource for Educators working with differentiated small groups. Also useful for determining intervention strategies for targeted weaknesses. Jan Richardson has made it easy for teachers to follow. A great resource for all teachers to use on a regular basis. I love the handy flip chart that accompanies the book too!

Book rentals rock!
These are excellent teaching resources! I also like the fact that I could rent these books. That is a significant savings. Rental includes access to the author's website, which has helpful downloads. I'm set for some serious reading instruction!

Great product.
I need the product for the upcoming school year. The product is great. I saw this bundle and thought I’d save a little money. In hindsight, I realized that I could have bought each item separately and saved $20. For a teacher, this savings would have been huge.
