Penn Elcom Under Desk Laptop Drawer, Lockable, for 17” Laptops - Premium Sliding Security Drawers - Model EX-6201B

I've bought and installed 2 of these on my desk. They are very heavy duty, the sliding glides are strong and smooth. Easy to install. I've never used the locks so I can't comment on them but these are excellent drawers that I feel will last a long time

Installation was easy, Ventilated metal tray and quality slides. Two points for improvement, the foam wrist-rest can get chewed up too easily, and the key and lock are real cheap. Otherwise a nice addition to the home office.

The drawer is as described - sturdy and spacious. My 17” wide computer fit plugged into power with room to use one side of the USB ports. No concerns about ventilation. Loss of 1 star for not including the paper installation template shown in the video. I tried looking at the company website and emailing for a .pdf or printable version with no luck. If you can turn your desk upside down you probably don’t need the template. Unfortunately, I cannot. Lock is sturdy, but a thief with some pliers and ample time would be able to break off the exposed locking mechanism. Some engineering could conceal and reduce the shortcoming.

The media could not be loaded. I bought this drawer since my desk has no drawers. The first 2 things that came to my mind when I took it off the box were:1) This is SOLID2) It was literally a joy to open and close the drawer. It's so smooth, I just kept doing it for a little while, it's so satisfying.Pros/Features:Great Open/Close mechanism.It's smooth and feels good. Requires minimal force to open/close but does not move around.SlimIt's pretty slim so it doesn't interfere too much with your legs, but that depends on your and your desk's height.Easy to install:Inside the box there were no instructions, just the needed screws and the keys, but all you need to do is drill them into your desk. It took like 10 min including clearing my desk and flipping it overSolid construction:It IS made of metal, and it is sturdy, and seems be built to last. This also means that electronics or other metal items without a case will get scratched. At this price point it would be nice if they included some kind of lining for the drawer.Wrist restpadIt also comes with some kind of wrist padding, which I guess you could use if you want to put a keyboard or laptop directly on it while open (it's sturdy enough to sustain the weight), but that is not my use case.Cons:- Expensive.- No inner lining/padding (could be foam)In the end, I AM happy with my purchase, but I do believe the product is somewhat expensive/overpriced.

Big thumbs-up to this product, starting with a sane and useful installation template. Lots of under-desk contraptions like keyboard drawers are a major pain to install, but this was easy even without inverting the desk... hole cutouts for the screws make it simple to pop it over the heads, slide into position, and tighten.I needed a thin wide drawer at my studio desk to install a bunch of electronics, and this is made to allow laptop operation... with the bottom panel made of a strong mesh. This turned out to be a huge benefit, as I use zip ties to fixture cables and bits of hardware like HDMI switches and splitters. Tidy, solid feel, and good airflow.The drawer has an easy full-width lip, as well as a foam pad along the front that is easy on the forearms. (There is also a lock, though I haven't tried it.)Would buy again.

5 stars for Penn Elcom's customer service.1 star for Amazon's listing/fulfillment.This order was clearly a return to Amazon as it was missing the manual and the key. It was fulfilled by Amazon -- so Penn Elcom was not responsible for the order -- but after verifying my order Penn Elcom was super kind and shipped me the missing manual and replacement key at no charge. Amazon also has this listed incorrectly, as it does not come with any kind of hardware per Penn Elcom, as they don't know what type of material you're installing the drawer on. They recommend reading the manual and then going to the hardware store to choose the appropriate installation hardware.The product itself is super sturdy and seems like it will hold up well and suit my purposes perfectly once the manual and key arrive.

Easy to install, extraordinarily strong. Purchased different one before but after putting USB plugs in Laptop would not fit into drawer. Make sure you measure with any USB plugs you'll use in the unit.

The box the drawer arrived in was 30"x20" and there was not any kind of packing material at all. That means there was more than 6" of space for the drawer to freely bang around inside the box as the package was shipped without anything except for the cardboard box to absorb the drops. Of course it arrived bent. I don't want to deal with the return process so I'm going to see if I can bend it back into reasonable shape. The product itself seems well made but how can I give this more than 1 star when they clearly didn't make even a minimal effort to ensure that the drawer would arrive undamaged. From reading the other reviews this isn't an isolated case so beware.Why isn't Penn Elcom looking at the feedback people are giving? All you have to do is spend an extra 20 cents or so on packing paper and spend 10 seconds extra packing it in the box. I've ordered $5 items which received much more care in packing. Do better.

Good quality and perfect for my needs

Arrived very quickly. Very easy to install. Works like a charm. Very good construction quality. Just what I needed. It's low profile made it very easy to hide away under my coffee table where you cannot see it. Use it for storing remotes (8) plus batteries, pens, paper, etc.

I wanted to store away one of my MacBook Pros when I am using it in desktop mode (via a TB4 dock). This seemed like a great solution, and indeed it was.The build quality is excellent, and the supplied template made it very easy to install. I was able to easily thread into the tray cables to connect. The tray was ample size for the 16 MBP, alongside some peripherals to connect inside.Overall really impressed

Cajón de excelente calidad y construcción, utiliza buenos materiales. Una vez instalado queda robusto y apenas ocupa espacio, pero podría tener algo más de suavidad al cerrarlo, hay que hacer fuerza para cerrarlo del todo. Pese a ello, es un gran producto.

A good product. Holds the laptop steady under the table.
