App does not work
I'm an HVAC contractor and I bought this hoping I could set up a template on the app to automatically record repetitive measurements I make on every job. The app looks like something like this was intended... But it was obviously thrown together at the last minute and does not have any kind of functionality. You can create a template, but all it remembers is how many spaces there are in it. You can add names in the template builder, but it immediately forgets them, so when you start a new job all the spots are blank, and it doesn't even save the names you manually enter, the only saved name you can apply to any measurement without typing it in manually is "Door Height". And when I tried measuring and pressing the button to export them, the app didn't even receive the measurement, it just opens a screen with blank spaces for the name and measurement. I suppose it wants me to enter them manually?? Then why in the sam hell am I bothering to use the app in the first place?? If it worked like its supposed to it would be worth putting up with, in spite of all of the Chinese language messages that curiously appear on the phone when the app is working, but take that away and all you have is a second-rate digital and laser measure.

Impressive Technology: laser + digital tape + Bluetooth data transmission
Being an engineer myself, I worked with a lot of measurement sensors and devices through the years. This one is probably the most impressive one, since it combines great features:+ laser distance measurement+ angle measurement+ tape measurement with the digital display+ option to easily switch between inch and millimeter+ bluetooth data transmission of any measurement (works perfect with an iPhone X)+ easy and very intuitive to operate (a short written instruction is included, but not needed)+ affordable priceThere are a lot of bluetooth devices available on the markets and a lot of measuring tapes, but it seems that no well-known brand in the US or in Europe had the idea yet to combine such. So: Great and innovative job from BerronTech! There is no longtherm experience yet, but subjectively the device seems very robust and very well protected, since all the edges are covered with rubber.Still there are two opportunities to improve - which are hindering us acutally to buy more of those for a professional usage in production:1) the measuring tape itself is made of steel, resulting in the same advantages/disadvantages as all other steel tapes -> if you bend such too often, it will be deformed. Our goal was to measure circumferences in industrial production. The steel band is not expected to survive long term. Crossing my fingers, that this company will offer a more flexible textile tape soon also.2) the Bluetooth data transmission seems to need a dedicated (Chinese) software (which is easily available in the app store) - but what limits the flexibility. If you would like to use such device in an industry environment, like us, you might prefer to transfer your data in a more flexible way to any kind of software. Compare bar code readers or QR code readers: those are usually connected to your phone like a keyboard - enabling to add data to every software, which allows a keyboard data input. Hopefully the company can do an update to enable such. The accuracy of this device has not been evaluated yet, but at least the first subjective impression is very good.If there are news about accuracy and/or robustness, I would do an update of this text.I will keep this device for using at home - as my best-loved and most universial measuring tool!
