Perfect!
Great item recommended by leading eduactors. Perfect for home education. Pen is very fun and motivates a child to do this work and enjoy it everyday. All types of kids will like it even I like it. The pen is so polite cheerful and funny. The noise is not obnoxious and loud at all. Sound can be turned off leaving a large soft green or red light which is fun too. The book for first grade readin and second grade reading parts one and two are really good. The cards in the seperate smaller sets are ok but this book is better. Well made sealed paper (so can be cleaned and will last) full color simple to understand spiral bound book.

Love hot dots
My son gets very overwhelmed with long lessons. Hot dots has been a huge success. He doesn’t feel overwhelmed with the short lessons and really enjoys them. I like that they throw lots of different subject into this. It’s reading but you’re reading about science, or the next day reading about history. It’s perfect!

Solid meh
This is like a test your kid can take by themselves and get immediate answer it wasn't what I was looking for. but that's on me for not looking better at it I guess. but just FYI for anyone else.

Hot Dots are a must for teachers!
I use Hot Dots as an independent workstation. This set is nice because it is different than the traditional cards. It is a booklet that covers a lot of different skills for reading. It also comes with the pen. The best thing about them is that students can self check. You don't need to sit with them in order to work with them. That is the beauty of Hot Dots!
