I wish I had not tied so many darn flies with these because I cannot see any use for these other than really tiny fish. 12" trout have straightened these easily. Just when I think I have culled all of these from my boxed I accidentally put one on and I regret it every time. Last night I was practicing a dry fly pattern and I was using small diameter 12/0 thread. I normally just break the tag end of the thread off after wrapping down the hook to start the fly. I tried this with the largest hook in box and the hook bent sideways at a 90 degree angle. These are not tempered or hardened and I question their composition. These should not be used for fishing.

The case came "opened" in a bubble wrap sleeve. Hooks were all over over the place. I reserve my patience for tying the flies, not spending my time categorizing and sorting hooks. Hooks seem ok, but would not buy again based on the delivery.

I’m not satisfied with this type of hooks. I bought them only because I saw so many positive reviews. Unfortunately sometimes it doesn’t work. The main drawback is that the metal which hooks make from is very soft and therefore the hooks bend easily. In addition hooks made from a thin type of wire. I haven’t even used hooks for fishing yet. I’m just preparing for the summer fishing season, making fishing flies from these hooks. I haven’t decided yet whether I will keep them or send them back.From the beginning I wanted give only one star but gave an addition star only for the box that came with the hooks.I’m not happy with my purchase so make your judgment.———after a few weeks my attitude towards this product has changed even more for the worse. The hooks so easy to bend that I can’t even wind a thread.And now I want to rate these products even less than before, giving only one star.

If you use Mustad hooks (made in China), I think you will appreciate these (made in China).If Mustad hooks are an "A"...I would score these a solid "B".These are slightly blemished (greater than Mustad) in finish, comparable strength and very sharp (chemically). The hook eyes are closed nicely (good enough) but do warrant a quick inspection! Daiichi and Tiemco they are not.Good value and an awesome plastic hook/nymph plastic fly box is included!

I’m relatively new to fly tying. The hooks come in a very nice magnetized case so the sizes don’t get all mixed up. I think this is a great starting point if you’re looking to tie most dry flies and nymphs. You could probably tie some decent small streamers with these, as well. I purchased these looking for barbless hooks, but they seem to still have small barbs on the end as you can see if you zoom in on the picture. Not a big deal, but I’d prefer totally barbless.

I received the barbless dry fly and curved shank set. I received the box in fine condition and all the hooks were still neatly packaged and organized when I opened the box. The box is nice as well and will be useful when the hooks are gone. I would recommend this for anyone starting a collection of hooks and just wants to get 4 popular sizes in 2 styles or really anyone trying to fill up a box with flies in multiple sizes quickly and economically. Hooks are sharp and seem quite strong.

Unfortunately I really can't review these hooks. They looked to be a good size and high quality. While wrapping gifts my husband walked in and I quickly shoved them down in a bag which apparently turned out to be my trash bag. The mishap went unnoticed until we opened the gifts. Hopefully I will be able to buy them again after the holidays and will then give a real review.UPDATE: They actually turned up today, January 4th, and my husband is really pleased with the size and quality.

Gauge of dry fly hooks seemed lighter than expected. Eyes seemed small or misshaped.Hooks were mixed in all compartments. Needed a 2mm foam insert in the cover to keep hooks separated.
