The item arrived quickly, is a brand I trust and was inexpensive. I bought this chime button to replace a wifi viewer doorbell until I can find another wifi doorbell that's reliable enough to legitimize the cost. Because the two mounting screws were drilled in a diagonal placement into stucco, I still have to decide whether I'll mount this button on the diagonal, or whether I will get a decorative backer to place between the stucco and the NuTone button. Decision not made, I've not yet used it. I like that it is lit up and though plastic, I also like the metallic color and simple design. When I've used other metal-look plastic items that are brittle, it seems the brittle quality makes the metallic finish very prone to flaking off. The metallic portion of this bell doesn't look or feel similar to those chipping items. It looks like the finish is well done and ready to wear well through much use and the temperature extremes present where I live. Should my experience with the item be different than my expectations for this very affordable doorbell, I'll update this partial review.

The switch looked really good and was an easy change out from the old existing one that was 10 years old. The light was very bright as well! Be careful when unscrewing the wire terminals as they may be tight and cause slippage if using power tools. This switch is coated plastic and not metal. It can be scratched if not careful prior to installation. Other than that it is super awesome and really nice looking.

so yes, i'm on the vine but bought this outright. i mean it's < $7 with tax, c'mon already. now it actually looks better than the pic. it's a muted silver (satin) and lighted. i only gave it 3 stars for installation and here's why. there are no instructions. if you're throwin' up after that comment, i get it, so lemme 'splain.this is the one of the simplest electrical devices to install. you have 2 low voltage wires that are not polarized, so attaching to either terminal will work. what needs to be mentioned is how to install if you have a multi-note chime, yeah. after removing the old button, i noticed an electrical component between the terminals. after installing the new button, only one chime would be audible. if i held the button down for an extended time, all the chimes would play out. very weird, right. so i decided to reinstall that component between the terminals and boom, everything was good again. my guess is that component is a capacitor that allows for additional current flow after a momentary press. if someone wasn't paying attention, and just tossed the old button, there would've been some disappointment. so, installer beware.. . . and that's that. in replacing the old one, it was a perfect fit for the screws - the light is almost too bright but over time they tend to dim. wish it was a led but when it eventually goes out, it won't be missed as it's rare to have a ring after dark, round here. i'm happy with this purchase and yes, it's a very good value.

I purchased this to replace the original door bell button which failed. I do not know the original button manufacturer so I chose this because it matched the physical size almost perfectly. All that was required was to unscrew the 2 screws holding the old button in place, unscrew the 2 low voltage wires, screw the 2 low voltage wires back into this new button, then screw the new button into the place where the old button was. It was a very easy process that anyone with a screwdriver can do. The light is a soft orange color and is very easy to locate in the dark. It adds just enough light to help you find your keys or help prevent you from stumbling if the porch light is not on. The finish is not real metal, but it seems durable. The button works no matter where it is pushed and feels rigid enough that it should not wear out or bind from use.

This is not a metal doorbell. It is made of plastic. It is durable, quint and super easy to install (I'm not an electrician at all). If you need a reliable and inexpensive product - this is a great product.

Purchased this after reading reviews and knowing it would likely be plastic and it is. Definitely has no signs of being brushed metal, it's smooth, shiny, silver plastic. For me, this was a temporary solution to not having a doorbell at all, so for $6, I can live with it. Very easy to install, had no trouble whatsoever, works great.-2 stars for misleading advertising, only

So easy to install! If you already have a doorbell button or the wires are there it's just a matter of a couple screws and attach two wires. It's plastic but looks like metal and the lighted button makes it easy to locate at night. This is the perfect look for the gray vinyl on our house.
