If you're like me then buying online is uncomfortable and you live a bit skeptically of the quality of products and the reliability of the descriptions we read. As such I thought those similar to me would appreciate know a few things about this product.First, it's sturdy! I was surprised to be honest how sturdy it was considering the length of the arm and the weight of the large 5 inch lens. It's quite rigid and sturdy.The 5 inch lens size is about 2 inches larger than many similar models. Excellent viewing capacity.The USB format of the power cable is brilliant. The desk I use is a 6.6 ft by 4ft and the cable is a bit short to reach the 9 feet I need to get to the power source. The USB format allowed me to easily reach my PC USB outlet to power the light. Loved this, and it adds flexibility to how you power up the work light.The dimmer is a very nice feature. It's a knob format, so it creates a convenient and full range of brightness control rather than digitally programmed preset options.Very happy with our purchase and the prices point gave it tremendous value I didn't expect. You won't regret your buy if you're looking for a goose neck extension format! I'd guess it's one of the best in the market.

I bought this for my son. He is an angler and makes his own flies. You need a really good magnifying glass with a great light source to tie flies like these pictured. He loves this item and says the light is bright and the magnification is great.

I immediately send this back. The clamp would not stay put as you reposition the lamp around. Clamp needs to be stronger or better quality.

Whenever I move the light to focus it on my reading material the clamp that anchors it to the table surface loosens up and will not stay in place. This is useless for anchoring. The light and magnifier are fine.

The lamp seems to be sturdy and well made, but unfortunately it is *too sturdy* for my needs. I bought this for my mother to use as a reading lamp/magnifier as she has macular degeneration, thinking it would be perfect next to her reading chair. The gooseneck is very, very stiff. This could be a great feature for someone who sets it up at a work table and doesn't need to change the position of the neck too often. However, there is no way that this could be casually pulled down to one's lap for reading and then pushed aside, certainly not by an elderly person with arthritis.In addition, I was very disappointed that this was not a 5-inch wide 10X magnifier, as suggested by the listing. The description does mention different strengths of magnification at center and edges, but nowhere does it state that the 10X is only in a 1-inch wide inset. I have seen that sort of feature in many/most lenses, so I looked carefully at the video and images in this listing--and the lens used to sell this item does NOT show an inset. False advertising. (I'm not so sure the inset is even 10X, either.) The first picture is a side-by-side of a still from the Amazon listing video and of the actual lens.The second image is meant to show how difficult it was to put the lamp back in the box, due to the extreme stiffness of the gooseneck. It took me close to twenty minutes to maneuver it back into the molded plastic insert. Again, this could be a valuable feature for you if you need a strong lamp that will stay in a certain position.One final thing to note is that this lamp is heavy! Another reason it wouldn't work for my mom, and why it needs to be attached to a solid, sturdy table; and not really good for frequently moving from sofa to desk, for example.

The base is heavy enough to hold the lens and light in almost any position and the clip is heavy enough to work properly. Being mechanically challenged, it did take me three or four tries to get the inner ring that holds the lens in place to actually lock in, but once I got that figured out, this is heaven! (The ring problem was user-error, not design flaw. I only mention it for others, if any, who may be as challenged as I am. Don't laugh. There could be someone.)"

I really tried to make this work but the arm was just way to stiff. The other issue was the light not being very bright. Set to it's max it just didn't put out enough light. I have music stand lights that are brighter than this thing with fewer LEDs in them. It was just disappointing. Although, the magnifying glass was pretty good so they have that going for them.

I purchased this for my wife who has to draw insulin shots into a needle for our diabetic dog. She used to tape a hand held magnifying glass to the refrigerator door.This one has the clamp, the arm and the light and works great for her needs. She clamps to the handle of the refrigerator and uses the fridge as a back drop. With the light on she can see the amount of insulin she needs to draw much easier. No more tape.
