The Renogy solar panels have turned out to be great, the juice they generated during our recent 10 day open ocean sail from Saint Martin to Annapolis, Maryland helped us run the auto pilot and electronics onboard. The panels are very easy to install and they are so light that handling them is childs play.Make sure to consider a way to secure the panels, they are so light that a gust of wind will carry them off. They will need some kind of backing if installed on the davits for example.I figure with two more panels, I will only rarely have to run an engine to charge my batteries.

could not be better
right out of the box it was up and charging on an overcast day. the voltage at the car battery was only 13v since the battery was already fully charged and no sun available but charging was indicated. this will be used on our boat to keep us from running the engine to charge batteries. will update with real details after our summer cruise. the plan is to use it over the boom and store under a berth hence the choice of the thin and flexible panel. arrived 2 days ahead of projected delivery. when deciding on which/what to order the customer technician was extremely helpful!

High quality panels, great kit for the price
This kit is really great for the price. The solar panels are high quality as they are mono crystalline panels which put out more power for a given area of solar panel than the kind that roll up which are "amorphous" Si. I have had the panels in use on my boat for about a month now with no problems.NOTE: as they are mono panels, if there is any shading the entire panel is removed from the circuit, so find a spot where they will not have any shading on even a portion of the panel. For example, if the mast cast a shadow across the panel, then it would not produce power. Take this into consideration when you are looking for the place to mount them. Also mount the panels so there is no strain on the cables as the attachment of the cables to the panel could be a weak point (but I have not had any issues in that regard). The panels are fairly stiff but will mount to a slightly curved surface. I have them mounted on the fiberglass deck of my sailboat, held down with very strong duct tape (gorilla brand white). I originally just mounted them that way to determine if the position was OK, but when they worked great in that placement, I added more (very high quality) duct tape. The kit itself is awesome as it contains all the parts you would need to install the panels right out of the box. The cables include are very high quality 10 gauge (very thick, carry lots of current). The mc4 connectors provided allow for either a series or parallel connection of the panels. I was producing power to the batteries within 10 minutes of opening the kit on the boat.I actually bought 2 of these kits as that was how many panels I needed for my situation. Rather then just buying the additional panels I needed, I got the kit as it included not only the panels, but the wires and connectors. The charge controller itself is OK for a starter controller, but if you combine more that 2 panels for more power, then it's probably worth swapping in a separate MPPT (maximum power point tracking) controller.Anyway I highly recommend the Renogy companies products ( I have since ordered some more Renogy connectors and MC4 assembly tools), as well as this specific kit.I would recommend buying a MC4 assembly tool at the same time as the panels, un connecting the MC4 connectors is a pain with out this very inexpensive tool.

the panel and the charge controller are great, i was not impressed with the quality of the cables or the crimped eye terminals on the cables. The crimped eyes were incorrectly crimped breaking most of the wire strands. If i had to do it over i would have ordered just the panel and charge controller and not the whole kit. I ended up buying new marine 10-2 cable and connectors to complete the project. The three star rating is only due to the quality of the cables, i intend to buy two more of the panels and controllers for other projects.

Sad and mad
I bought this product originally it pushed a lot of power, twice what I needed to run a 12v freezer. I replaced them when they were ruined by us border patrol X-ray machine, now with a new set up I can't even keep the freezer running, shows the battery is always low. Sad mad, not sure what to do!?

The Renogy solar panel was very easy to install and get operating
The Renogy solar panel was very easy to install and get operating. It keeps my 3 12volt deep cycle batteries at full charge on our 34' sailboat. The instruction booklet is very brief but the system is very simple to install
